Audio Messages on Infertility, Adoption & Orphan Care

These are three great messages by Russell Moore (dean of a seminary), Dennis Rainey and Bob LePine on FamilyLife Radio talking about infertility, adoption, orphan care, our Russell Moore's adoption story and his book, Adopted for Life. They are each about 25 minutes long. I thought they were great!

Grappling with Infertility (Day 1 of 3). This is a conversation about our grappling with infertility, what to do if you’re infertile, and how churches can minister to hurting people who want babies and can’t have them. I talk bluntly here with Dennis and Bob about how infertility can be a spiritually dangerous time.

Embracing Adoption (Day 2 of 3). This is a conversation about how to start thinking about whether God would call you to adopt, and how to get started, if so. It also helps friends and extended family members think about how they can empower adoption and orphan care.

WelcometotheFamily (Day 3 of 3). This is a conversation about how we ought to think about moving beyond adoption into “normal” life in the family, including the family of the church.

Walk to Defeat ALS

While most of you were cozy inside your houses this morning, looking at disbelief at the snow on the other side of your window, we were outside all morning for the Walk to Defeat ALS (Jason's biggest fundraiser of the year)! The snow was really coming down in Des Moines. But, it was fun and nearly 1,000 people still came out for the walk! Jason was really happy (and surprised) by the turn out.

In previous years, I have gone to the walk to help out with registration. However, this year I decided to walk on a team for the first time because I have become good friends with Cindy Gould, who lost her husband, Roger, to ALS 1.5 years ago. It was great to walk with her in honor of Roger. I also raised $20 over my $100 goal. Thanks to those who supported me! It was great to make a small contribution to help those with this terrible disease. ALS is like the opposite of Alzheimers . . . your mind remains perfectly intact, but your muslcles deteriorate very rapidly until you cannot function on your own. Life expectancy with ALS is 2-5 years.

Here is our team.Yes, that is the the Ehresman clan you see! The whole fam came to walk with me. However, by the time the actual walking started, the kids were really cold, so Mark took them to the car and Kate and I walked, with Abram bundled up in the stroller. And bundled he was! This is how he looked under a pile of blankets. He did great the whole morning. The Lee Three in our winter gear.

She's Home

Andy, Jill and Jaida made it home last night. And we got to go see them! It was so wonderful to see them home, with their baby girl. She is so incredibly precious. Words can't even describe it!

The dads and their babies.
And finally, a couple shots of Jaida's room that Allie, Jill's mom and I did for them while they were gone!
Thank you, God. Thank you!
