Jaida & Abram
Abram and Jaida side-by-side in their strollers is a frequent occurence these days because Andy, Jill and Jaida recently bought a house TWO BLOCKS away from US. Can you even believe that?! Sometimes I still can't! It has been a huge blessing. Jill and I and the kiddos go walking a lot.
Jaida came over last week. She LOVES to jump in the jumper.
When Abram realized where she was, he headed straight for her.
With his bat, of course!

Golfing with Papa
Okay, so just riding in the golf cart with Papa.
On Tuesday, my dad golfed in an ALS golf tournament in Des Moines so Abram and I went to see him (and of course Jason was there, too). It was a fun morning. Abram is looking pretty serious behind that wheel!

Just Being a Boy
Just being a boy in the yard yesterday.
And I just sat and soaked in as much of him as I could. I cannot get enough of him right now!
Abram's happiness level has gone up now that he can walk.
And he is quickly becoming obsessed with his little orange bat. He takes it with him everywhere he goes.

Life does not get much better than this right now!

Monkey
Small pieces of bananas are for babies. Eating the banana a half at a time is for monkeys!
P.S. The wall behind Abram is our new kitchen wall color ('high-speed steel'). I absolutely LOVE it. I'm waiting until we get everything put back together before I post pictures of the remodeling/painting.

Fun with Friends
Abram has been having lots of fun with his little friends lately. Last week was Reese Wulfekuhle's first birthday. What a pretty birthday girl!
This is a terrible picture, but it is the best of what I took.
Bathtime with the Grey-man after playing outside with the cousins.
A stroller ride with Callen Stenberg. Callen really wanted to ride in the stroller, too, and both boys surprisingly enjoyed being crammed in there together (for a short distance)!
P-pop time with Jaida.
And the first attempt at putting Jaida, Reese and Abram all in the little pool. Abram didn't last long at all . . . he was hungry and so sat outside of the pool eating Cheerios most of the time the girls played. Jaida didn't last very long either. But Reese . . . that girl could have stayed in the pool for hours!

What We've Been Up To
Last week I lived at my sister's house for a few days while Jason was in Washington DC for a business trip. I love to stay out there when he goes away. With only one kid right now, it is still doable! :)
Kate and I spent over 8 hours last Tuesday sorting, organizing and rearranging her storage room. She hated it. I was in heaven! I forgot to take "before" pictures. But, just picture this area very crammed with plastic totes. Her storage room is also her exercise room and her card-making room. So, we made it look like this:
Though Kate hated the process, she is LOVING the end result. Here is her new, much expanded crafting/card-making area.
The most fun part was utilizing this shelf Mark bought from Craigslist. It is such a fun shelf and perfect for Kate's crafty stuff.
Our next favorite area is the new gift wrapping center. Mark hung a wire for us to use for ribbon (I can't wait to do this somewhere in my house, too).
Moving on . . . .
This past Saturday was Jessie Wheeler's graduation party. Kate and I got to help decorate the day before and then serve food at her party. It was a ton of fun. I can't believe she is graduating. I started babysitting her when she was just a little girl!
And here is a shot of the whole Wheeler fam. I could do an entire blog post on this family - how amazing they are, how indebited my life is to them and how much I love them . . . but not now!
To end the weekend, my mom gave Abram his first official hair cut. I trimmed his hair a little over his ears a couple months ago, but he was needing the full hair cut this time. He hated every minute of it. Mom kept wanting to quit because she couldn't stand him crying, but I made her finish so we could get it over with!
A little time on Grammy's lap and he was a happy camper with a cute new hair cut!

A Year Ago Today . . .
We brought Abram home to Iowa! It was one of my favorite days in all of my life so far - sharing our precious gift with our family and friends.
Our little monkey then . . .
And now!
"Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare." (Psalm 40:5)

The Circus
Auntie Kim (Dietz) took us all to the circus in Des Moines on Saturday! Here she is with Mya and Sydney and one of the many clowns roaming the foyer before the circus.
Right before this picture was taken, a balloon got popped right behind us and it scared Abram to death.
Overall, we all had a blast! I hadn't been to the circus since 6th grade, so it was really fun to go again. And it was a good show. I should have had someone take my picture with my cotton candy . . . After all, what is the circus without cotton candy?!?
