While most of you were cozy inside your houses this morning, looking at disbelief at the snow on the other side of your window, we were outside all morning for the Walk to Defeat ALS (Jason's biggest fundraiser of the year)! The snow was really coming down in Des Moines. But, it was fun and nearly 1,000 people still came out for the walk! Jason was really happy (and surprised) by the turn out.In previous years, I have gone to the walk to help out with registration. However, this year I decided to walk on a team for the first time because I have become good friends with Cindy Gould, who lost her husband, Roger, to ALS 1.5 years ago. It was great to walk with her in honor of Roger. I also raised $20 over my $100 goal. Thanks to those who supported me! It was great to make a small contribution to help those with this terrible disease. ALS is like the opposite of Alzheimers . . . your mind remains perfectly intact, but your muslcles deteriorate very rapidly until you cannot function on your own. Life expectancy with ALS is 2-5 years.
Here is our team.
