Here was our house when we bought it . . .
See anything wrong with the look of the outside of it?
Perhaps the glaring white door with all that brown?! That thing stuck out like a sore thumb and drove me crazy. I painted it brown earlier this summer.
And that wasn't all I painted. Oh yes I did . . . I painted the brick on the front of our house. And I LOVE it!
The house was originally all dark brown. The variety of burnt orange brick must have looked stunning with the all dark brown house in the 70's. :) The burnt orange hues with the tan and dark brown now . . . YUCK! Too many different colors going on. The two different browns are not my style to begin with, but the shades of orange with it were hideous.
The previous owners left a full can of the dark brown exterior paint so I used it to paint the brick two weekends ago. I originally thought I would paint all sides of the bricks and grout. But, when I started the project, I tried just painting the fronts of the bricks. It was a fabulous idea because it saved me TONS of time. I used a really little roller to do it. When you are right up close to the brick, you can still see the orange.
But from any other view, the brick just looks brown.
And it says, AHH . . . I feel so cohesive and complete. I should have always been dark brown!
