This is a GREAT quote by John Piper:
"My feelings are not God. God is God. My feelings do not
define truth. God’s word defines truth. My feelings are echoes and responses to
what my mind perceives. And sometimes – many times – my feelings are out of
sync with the truth. When that happens – and it happens every day in some
measure – I try not to bend the truth to justify my imperfect feelings, but
rather, I plead with God: Purify my perceptions of your truth and transform my
feelings so that they are in sync with the truth."
Being a huge feeler and growing up believing my feelings were the truth, much of my Christian life (which started at age 18, when I trusted Jesus to forgive my sins) has been spent battling my feelings with the truth. These last months the battle has intensified, but I am so thankful. It is such a battle worth fighting . . . living with TRUTH triumphing my feelings is so FREEING and full of JOY.
This John Piper quote spurs me on to keep pleading with God to transform my feelings to be in sync with the truth.
